End-Uses Yellow birch wood is easily worked and takes finishes and stains readily. Flooring, furniture, cabinets, doors, windows, stairs parts, blinds, mouldings, picture frame material and numerous speciality items are made from yellow birch lumber. Tree chips are used for pulp and paper manufacture, reconstituted uses and fuel. The furniture industry is the largest user of hardwood lumber in Canada. Furniture products made from yellow birch include bedroom suites, dining room furniture, kitchen cabinets, living room suites and office furniture such as desks, chairs, tables, cabinets and wardrobes. Yellow birch is highly regarded by the flooring industry mainly because of its good appearance and high hardness value.
